Princess was my daughter's rabbit, rescued, cage-free, and absolutely rock n roll in the best possible way. Cute and destructive. Best friends with the cat. Twelve years of doing exactly what she wanted. I called her my mystical woodland creature and I wasn't even being poetic about it, she was. The most glorious pet that I used to bunny-sit for my daughter when she went away.
When she left this mortal coil, I painted her in the garden in full goddess mode. Crown, third eye, golden halo - because obviously. She was never really a princess. She was always a queen. The rescue centre named her before they knew who they were dealing with.
This one's for the animals who owned us, not the other way around.
